About The Position

Machine precision components used to repair industrial pumps and rotating equipment in our OEM-authorized repair facility. This is a true MANUAL machining position - not CNC production work. Candidates should have experience independently setting up and operating manual machine tools such as lathes, Bridgeport mills, boring mills, VTLs, horizontal mills, or key seaters. CNC machining experience alone is not sufficient for this role. Every job is different. You'll machine new components, repair worn parts, and reverse engineer equipment using drawings, sketches, or existing components. If you enjoy setup-heavy work that requires precision, problem solving, and craftsmanship, you'll find plenty of variety here.

Requirements

  • Strong experience operating manual lathes and milling machines
  • Ability to independently set up and complete jobs from start to finish
  • Experience machining to tight tolerances
  • Proficiency using precision measuring equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating vertical turret lathes (VTLs), boring mills, or other large manual machine tools
  • Experience machining large shafts, sleeves, housings, or other heavy industrial components
  • Experience in a repair shop or job shop environment where every project is different rather than repetitive production machining
  • Experience reverse engineering worn or damaged components from existing parts or limited drawings
  • Experience supporting the repair of industrial pumps, rotating equipment, gearboxes, compressors, or similar mechanical equipment

  • Hold close tolerances on bearing journals, seal fits, and other critical dimensions
  • Measure finished work using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
  • Reverse engineer components from worn parts, sketches, or limited documentation
  • Select tooling, speeds, and feeds appropriate for the material and application
