About The Position

The Manual Machinist will be responsible for studying blueprints, drawings, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, operational sequences, and setup requirements. This role involves selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines including mills, lathes, and grinders. The machinist will operate manual machining equipment to produce parts to specification, verify conformance of finished workpieces using appropriate measuring devices, and fit and assemble machined components into complete assemblies, verifying dimensions and alignment. The position also includes installing machined replacement parts in machinery and equipment, testing units to ensure proper functionality and performance, and reviewing work orders and drawings to fabricate precision metal components. Safety is paramount, requiring the machinist to safely measure, cut, shear, bend, form, grind, file, sand, polish, sandblast, and test parts as required. The role also involves using manual mills for drilling and milling operations and manual lathes for turning operations, all while adhering to company safety procedures and standards. Other duties as assigned will also be part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Technical school graduates or one to three years of related machining experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedure documents.
  • Proficiency in using measuring devices such as micrometers and calipers.
  • Ability to lift 25–35 pounds regularly and 35–50 pounds occasionally; role requires significant standing, stooping, and bending.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
