Requirements

  • 8+ years of focused experience in change communications, specifically helping organizations and their people navigate significant business change.
  • Proven track record managing complex transformations (e.g., M&A, restructurings, cultural transformation) with high stakes and compressed timelines.
  • Deep understanding of how people process change, including emotional dimensions, drivers of resistance, and moving from skepticism to commitment.
  • Expertise in change narrative development and key message frameworks, creating clear, compelling stories that connect organizational rationale to individual employee reality.
  • Experience equipping leaders and managers to lead through change with tools, briefings, and coaching materials.
  • Strong skills in audience analysis, research, and measurement using quantitative and qualitative methods.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex, sensitive topics and adapt tone/voice.
  • AP style proficiency.
  • Ability and confidence to provide strategic counsel at the C-suite level and build trusted relationships with senior clients.
  • Experience leading teams and managing others collaboratively and respectfully.
  • An energetic, resourceful, self-starting mindset.
  • A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in communications, organizational psychology, organizational behavior, or business.
  • Prosci certification and/or experience working within formal change management frameworks.
  • Large-agency experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead change communications strategy for clients navigating significant business transformations, including M&A, integrations, spinoffs, IPOs, restructurings, reductions in force, leadership transitions, function transformations, and culture/values programs.
  • Build and execute communications programs that move employees from awareness to action, guiding them through the change journey.
  • Develop honest, human change narratives and key message frameworks grounded in the 'why'.
  • Equip leaders and managers to communicate through change with confidence and credibility.
  • Conduct audience and sentiment analysis to understand employee needs and effective communication approaches.
  • Build and oversee integrated, multichannel communications plans with channel discipline, prioritizing quality and targeted delivery.
  • Create listening and measurement mechanisms to assess employee understanding, acceptance, and action regarding change, and identify areas for adjustment.
  • Provide strategic counsel to senior clients in corporate communications, HR, and other functional roles, influencing strategy.
  • Lead and develop project teams, manage people, and work to high standards under tight timelines.
  • Contribute to practice growth through RFP responses, new-business pitches, and thought leadership in change communications and organizational transformation.
