Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Aero-Astro, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical, Nuclear, Petroleum Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • Practical and theoretical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and combustion
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
  • 5+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Outstanding ability to apply fundamental engineering concepts to new problems
  • Hands-on experience in designing and executing experimental programs
  • Familiarity with technical documents and equipment
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • P.E. license or willingness to obtain a P.E. license
  • Versatile, team-oriented, willing to travel when required
  • Ability to interact with managers, engineers, non-technical personnel, and clients, and present technical topics in a cogent and comprehensible manner
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience mentoring new consultants

Responsibilities

  • Managing projects from initiation to completion
  • Communicating project updates to other team members, clients, and administrative staff
  • Ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work products
  • Identifying business development opportunities
  • Developing and managing client relationships
  • Project and cost management on casework
  • Analyzing and distilling complex data
  • Performing laboratory experiments and analytical or computational modeling
  • Reviewing and understanding experiments and simulations performed by clients
  • Researching and parsing data from published literature
  • Conducting risk assessments
  • Preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Managing projects and maintaining efficiency under deadlines
  • Gathering information from and conveying technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business, and industry
