About The Position

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer for its Electrical Engineering & Computer Science Practice in Menlo Park, CA. This role involves working within a team to address complex technical challenges for clients, often on urgent, high-profile, and multidisciplinary projects. The position offers the opportunity to work on diverse applications including consumer electronics, appliances, medical devices, and electrical infrastructure, with the flexibility to shape one's consulting practice based on individual skills and interests.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as Applied Physics or Optics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to convey technical conclusions to both technical and non-technical staff.
  • Self-starter with strong fundamentals and first-principles thinking, interested in learning about new topics.
  • Strong desire to help clients with their technical needs.
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.
  • Experience with electrical test equipment, designing, validating and conducting electrical tests, and troubleshooting.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in industry or postdoc after completing a Ph.D. is preferred.
  • Technical focus in electronics, semiconductors, circuits, electromagnetics, power electronics, or related cross-disciplinary areas.
  • Experience building bench-top or product-level optical systems or building medical devices strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performing analysis and consulting on a variety of scientific and engineering problems related to electrical/electronic components, products, and systems.
  • Supporting project areas such as failure analysis, risk assessment, reliability, design, and manufacturing.
  • Working as an individual contributor and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Researching and developing novel methodologies for cutting-edge scientific and engineering problems.
  • Participating in all project lifecycle stages: scoping, proposals, experimental design, testing, data analysis, report preparation, and client presentations.
  • Pursuing business development opportunities.
