About The Position

Exponent is seeking an Electrical Engineer for its Electrical Engineering Practice in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will work as part of several teams to develop engineering solutions for a diverse range of challenges faced by clients ranging from early-stage startups through to fortune 100 companies. You will be expected to combine scientific and engineering principles, data driven techniques, and a range of current experimental methods and investigative analysis techniques with robust subject-specific scientific expertise, to implement high-value solutions to complex technical problems. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across an extremely wide cross-section of industry and will interact with a variety of client contacts ranging from managers, engineers, legal staff, and business leaders. You will be expected to demonstrate continued professional growth, both in technical areas relevant to your expertise, and in business skills essential to providing effective consulting services.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field such as Applied Physics
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, power electronics, controls, embedded systems or automation
  • Experience in designing, constructing, and performing tests in a laboratory setting
  • Experience with data analysis and at least one common programming language such as Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to gather information and convey technical conclusions to individuals in engineering, business, and related industry
  • Self-starter with strong fundamentals, interested in learning about new topics
  • Ability to support multiple group projects and market the Electrical Engineering Practice and its consulting services
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required

Responsibilities

  • Performing electrical engineering analyses related to electrical/electronic systems for ongoing Exponent work
  • Performing failure analysis, risk assessment, electrical schematic and safety design review
  • Performing laboratory testing on PCBs and ICs using electrical bench test equipment
  • Presenting technical results and solutions to a diverse audience through verbal, written, and interactive communication
  • Preparing technical proposals, pursuing business developments, and expanding the range of related services Exponent provides to clients
