About The Position

415 Presents will assume executive management of the historic Curran Theatre in April 2027. The Managing Director will serve as the senior administrative and strategic leader for the venue, overseeing day-to-day operations, revenue management, administrative functions, and serving as the primary contact for business operations. The Managing Director will bring the vision for the theater to life: re-establishing the Curran as the most desired stage in San Francisco, where legacy inspires innovation and live entertainment moves our community forward. They will work in close coordination with Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG)—who will continue booking Broadway content and supporting key operations. They will be a dynamic, community minded ambassador who brings strong communication skills, sound financial judgment, creativity and collaborative leadership to operations, programming, and community relations.

Requirements

5 to 7 years of progressive senior management experience in a professional theatrical venue, performing arts center, or entertainment/hospitality organization.
Bachelor’s degree in arts management, Business Administration, or related field preferred (or equivalent professional experience).
Strong background in venue administration, P&L management, and operational leadership.
Demonstrated skill in business development, corporate sponsorships, and venue rental sales.
Familiarity or direct experience with artistic curation, talent booking, or promoter partnerships is a major plus.
Deep commitment to downtown San Francisco’s cultural and economic revitalization.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and event hours as required.

Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership, vision, and operational direction for the venue in alignment with 415 Presents’ mission, core values, and strategic pillars for Curran Theatre.
Lead the conception and operational execution of a 2027–2029 roadmap, ensuring key milestones, facility enhancements, and partner activations are met.

Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture across administrative, facility, and event staff.
Oversee day-to-day venue operations, administrative workflows, system efficiencies, and staff management.
Serve as the primary liaison between venue ownership (415 Presents / SF Giants), primary operating partners (ATG), title partners, content promoters, and community stakeholders.
Ensure full compliance with all relevant municipal, licensing, and safety regulations.
Oversee capital planning and facility enhancements, including backstage/artist space upgrades and technical systems.
Lead the annual budget process, programming P&Ls, long-range financial forecasting, and cash flow monitoring in partnership with ownership.
Drive sustainable commercial growth by maximizing earned revenue through ticket sales, private events, concessions/bar, and commercial venue rentals.
Evaluate financial performance continuously, implementing strategies to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
Partner with ATG to support their 50-night Broadway content deliverable while actively building the remaining annual show calendar.
Oversee booking expansion into live music, comedy, local productions, and private events.
Ensure every programming opportunity advances key objectives: commercial viability, guest experience, cultural identity, creative innovation, community impact, and building the future of the Curran.
Conceptualize and lead mission-driven events, including benefit shows, community events and local partnership showcases.
Collaborate with marketing teams and external partners to co-create assets, drive ticket sales, and execute press strategies.
Lead stewardship for theater partner relationships, including entitlements, fund allocations, and branding integrity.
Act as a key ambassador in the San Francisco community to local leaders, tastemakers, corporate partners, and the arts sector.
Oversee private event sales strategy aimed at corporate, convention, and holiday events.
Champion cultural revitalization efforts in downtown San Francisco through intentional programming and community initiatives.
