About The Position

Nscale is seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Managing Director to lead the strategic, commercial, and operational success of Nscale in South Korea. This leadership role involves launching and overseeing the operational delivery of their Sovereign Cloud offering, managing local operations, identifying commercial opportunities, and driving technological innovation. The Managing Director will be the senior-most leader in the country, representing Nscale's strategy, collaborating with global leadership (CRO, COO, CTO), and shaping the delivery of secure, enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure. This is a significant opportunity to scale a business at the intersection of AI, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership (C-Level) role within the technology, cloud infrastructure, data center, or AI/ML sectors, ideally within a high-growth or scale-up environment and, ideally, with Telecomms sector experience.
  • Proven track record of successfully engaging and building strategic relationships with senior government officials and enterprise C-suite executives in South Korea.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of owning and growing P&L, sales pipelines, and customer relationships.
  • Deep understanding of infrastructure operations, ideally with exposure to data center management, cloud services, or high-performance computing environments.
  • Technologically fluent – able to converse credibly with CTOs, engineers, and technical partners.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a matrixed or multi-stakeholder model – able to build relationships, influence without authority, and drive results collaboratively.
  • Exceptional communicator and leader with high EQ – inspires followership and trust.
  • Comfortable working in a rapid-paced, ambiguous environment where adaptability and entrepreneurial thinking are key.
  • Strong understanding of local market dynamics and regulatory environment.
  • Fluency in [local language] and English required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of our Sovereign Cloud offering in-country — from pre-launch planning and regulatory readiness, through to go-live and operational execution.
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations, forming strong partnerships with key stakeholders and ecosystem partners, and driving strategic growth by unlocking commercial opportunities and enabling secure, high-performance cloud innovation at scale.
  • Own the in-country P&L, ensuring strong governance, financial performance, and operational excellence.
  • Lead, inspire and grow a high-performing local team aligned to Nscale’s global mission, values, and culture.
  • Act as the in-country spokesperson and ambassador for Nscale with government stakeholders, regulators, partners, and media where appropriate.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance and foster strong relationships with relevant authorities.
  • Partner with the Group CRO to localise and deliver against commercial strategy, driving customer acquisition and revenue growth in the market.
  • Build and nurture senior-level relationships with key customers, partners, and strategic accounts.
  • Provide local market intelligence and insight to help shape go-to-market strategies, pricing, and customer engagement.
  • Partner with the Group COO to oversee data center and infrastructure operations in-country, ensuring resilience, efficiency, and customer SLAs are met.
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvement and scalability as the business grows.
  • Collaborate with the Group CTO and technical teams to ensure the deployment and maintenance of cutting-edge infrastructure to meet client demands.
  • Champion innovation and work to align in-country needs with the global technology roadmap.
  • Operate effectively in a matrixed environment, building trust and alignment across global functional leaders.
  • Contribute to global strategic initiatives and cross-market knowledge sharing.
