The Managing Director of Operations serves as a pivotal force in advancing the mission and impact of the Center for Executive Development at Mays Business School. This leader will shape the operational backbone of Executive Education through their contributions to designing systems, guiding teams, and stewarding resources to ensure every program delivers an exceptional professional learning experience. The Managing Director drives operational excellence across a revenue‑generating ecosystem by optimizing processes, scaling delivery models, and partnering closely with faculty, program directors, and business development leaders to bring high‑impact executive education to life. This position supports a multi-campus and client-facing portfolio spanning Houston City Centre, Dallas–Fort Worth, College Station, and corporate partner locations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, program delivery, or business management, ideally within executive education, higher education, or a client-facing corporate environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end operational execution of all executive education programs (open enrollment and custom), ensuring seamless delivery aligned with client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary operational partner to corporate engagement and business development teams, translating client needs into effective program execution.
  • Ensure a high-quality, consistent participant and client experience across all delivery formats and locations.
  • Monitor program performance, participant feedback, and client satisfaction metrics to drive continuous improvement and long-term client retention.
  • Oversee the operational performance of the executive education portfolio, including delivery effectiveness and operational contribution to revenue performance and margin outcomes.
  • Design and continuously refine the Executive Education operating model in partnership with the Executive Director to support scalable growth, portfolio expansion, and alignment with evolving market demand across programs and delivery formats.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across program delivery, financial performance, and client outcomes.
  • Provide regular performance insights and operational recommendations to senior leadership to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and develop high-performing administrative, program coordination, and program delivery staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, collaboration, and reliability across the Center.
  • Coordinate with the Executive Director to lead the annual performance review process for Center personnel and facilitate engagement with Texas A&M’s organizational development resources to support employee growth, leadership development, and continuous improvement in individual and team performance.
  • Lead annual operating and capital budget processes aligned with program portfolio growth and revenue targets.
  • Monitor expenditures and program-level financial performance, including margin optimization and cost efficiency.
  • Support pricing strategy, financial modeling, and resource allocation decisions in partnership with leadership.
  • Translate financial data into actionable insights tied to program performance and long-term sustainability.
  • Lead cross-functional coordination across business development, faculty, program delivery, and administrative teams, serving as the central point of integration between business development and program delivery functions to ensure seamless execution.
  • Serve as the primary operational liaison to faculty across Mays Business School and as a key point of contact for Faculty Champions engaged in Executive Education assignments, partnering with faculty and Center leadership to ensure alignment between program design, delivery quality, participant experience, and client expectations.
  • Oversee relationships with third-party vendors and partners to ensure alignment with program delivery standards and client expectations.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to balance quality, service delivery, and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure consistent delivery of high-quality services across all programs.
  • Develop and maintain systems that provide visibility into program pipeline, delivery, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies while enabling efficient, scalable operations.
  • Continuously improve workflows, systems, and processes to support operational excellence and growth.
  • In partnership with the Executive Director, oversee resource planning and allocation across programs, including staffing models and delivery support structures.
