Parents Together FoundationWashington, DC
$180,000 - $215,000Remote

About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic, social-first, strategic media leader to transform ParentsTogether’s mission into multi-format, cross-platform content that reaches parents at scale. The ideal candidate will be entrepreneurial with a growth mindset, possessing strengths in storytelling, content production, and operational rigor to manage high-performing teams. This role combines a passion for kids and families with the expertise to lead a team in creating and distributing compelling, topical, and culturally fluent content. The mission is to reach individuals who bypass traditional news media with issue-driven content that resonates with their everyday parenting experiences and challenges. This is a people leadership role, focused on teaching, guiding, and creating, where no task is too small or too big. The Managing Director will report to the Executive Director and collaborate closely with the CEO of the for-profit ParentsTogether Holdings. This is a senior role for a builder capable of translating ambitious strategic direction into a roadmap, a high-performing team, and a results-driven media operation. We encourage applications from candidates who are passionate about our mission, even if they don't meet every qualification, as we value diverse experiences and backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Fluency in modern digital media, understanding content performance across social, video, email, SMS, and emerging formats.
  • Expertise in vertical video and social formats.
  • Understanding of organic vs. paid distribution mechanics, ability to run A/B tests, and use data for rapid decision-making.
  • Knowledge of high-performing content strategies and ability to coach teams across various platforms.
  • Experimental and iterative mindset with a proven track record of audience growth (0 to 1 and 1 to 10) and successful development of net-new franchises with clear go-to-market and launch strategies.
  • Tech-forward or early adopter mindset, with a thesis on using AI to enhance media work and a history of using emerging tech tools and platforms for innovation.
  • Ability to translate ambitious strategic direction into actionable plans, teams, and systems.
  • Meaningful people management and hiring experience, including direct coaching, clear feedback, and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Experience leading across functions (content, production, narrative) and aligning teams around shared goals.
  • Belief in the thesis that issue-driven content can reach non-political, non-news-consuming parents, with a motivation for crafting compelling content on economy, healthcare, education, and kids' safety.
  • Ability to thrive in evolving environments, energized by ambiguity, change, and defining future strategies.
  • Thoughtful approach to equity in practice, both in content and team building/leadership.
  • Availability generally between 12 PM – 5 PM ET on most weekdays.
