About The Position

Infinity Constellation is seeking a Managing Director to found and lead its Environmental Consulting business unit. The role is for an experienced environmental practitioner with deep expertise in a specific niche, strong client relationships, and the technical judgment to define what constitutes a complete, compliant report. The Managing Director will shape the service offering, team, and tooling roadmap, while building a practice designed to serve more clients per person than a traditional firm. Environmental consulting includes compliance and permitting work before, during, and after physical development, such as pipelines, transmission lines, real estate, and industrial sites. Potential disciplines include wetland and waterbody delineation, habitat and species surveys, contamination assessment, and regulatory compliance auditing. Engagements typically involve surveying a site or route, collecting field data using GIS tools, and preparing reports for local, state, and/or federal agencies. The Managing Director will run the business unit end to end, including its strategy, client relationships, quality, and financial performance. They will choose the niche or niches and target buyers, bring existing client relationships to Infinity and grow the book of business, and act as the single accountable client contact from site survey through filing. They will establish standards for compliant reports and review and sign off on drafted reports. In partnership with Infinity’s engineering and product teams, they will help direct tools for jurisdiction-specific requirements, field data capture, and automated report drafting. They will also determine staffing needs and collaborate with other business unit leaders on cross-selling. Infinity provides a shared platform and teams for HR, accounting, finance, and data-processing work, along with engineering and product resources to build tools for the practice. Compensation includes a market base salary, uncapped variable compensation tied to revenue generated, and an equity grant in Infinity.

Requirements

  • Substantial hands-on experience in a specific environmental discipline, with technical credentials and standing required by regulators and clients.
  • An existing book of business or relationships that can support building one quickly.
  • Command of local, state, and/or federal regulatory requirements for the relevant niche, including jurisdictional variation.
  • Experience as either a senior practitioner deeply involved in delivering the service and ready to build a practice, or an independent practitioner seeking Infinity’s platform, tools, and capital.
  • A clear point of view on which parts of the work—such as jurisdictional research, field data capture, and report drafting—should move to an AI-driven workflow first.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and interest in rebuilding the firm itself rather than building software to sell to existing firms.
  • Based in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single accountable point of contact for clients from site survey through filing.
  • Define the requirements for a complete, jurisdiction-correct report and review and sign off on drafted reports.
  • Work with engineering and product teams to develop tools for jurisdiction-specific requirements, field data capture, and automated report drafting.
  • Determine the appropriate team structure for the selected niche, including field staff where needed.
  • Collaborate with other business unit leaders on cross-selling to shared clients.

Benefits
