About The Position

Modern Family Law is growing and seeking a driven, compassionate, and experienced Managing Attorney to join their team in McLean, VA. This role is hybrid, requiring the attorney to live within driving distance of the McLean, VA office. The Managing Attorney will oversee the day-to-day operations of the office, handle diverse family law cases, and mentor legal staff. The firm emphasizes a 'Remote First' setting with brick-and-mortar space available as needed for court and client appearances. Unlike traditional firms, there are no billable hourly requirements, allowing the focus to be on leadership and staff development. The position offers direct client contact, competitive compensation, benefits, and learning/development support. Eligibility to 'Work from Anywhere' is available after 6 months.

Requirements

Five (5) or more years of devoted Family Law experience preferred.
Must be within commuting distance to our McLean, VA office.
Skilled in mentoring and leading a team, while fostering collaboration.
Exceptional writing and communication skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with a client-focused mindset.
Proficient in client counseling, case prep, case management, and courtroom representation.
Clear and effective verbal and written legal communication.
Able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Committed to delivering excellent client service.
Active admission to the Virginia State Bar.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations, productivity, and profitability of the McLean, VA office.
Lead, mentor, and develop legal staff through training, motivation, and support.
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and HR on recruitment and policy compliance.
Coordinate with other leaders to ensure cross-departmental support.
Conduct client consultations and provide legal advice on family law matters.
Represent clients in court, prepare legal documents, and negotiate settlements.
