About The Position

The Washington State Attorney General’s Office Medicaid Fraud & Abuse Division (MFA) is hiring a Managing Assistant Attorney General 1 to oversee civil prosecution and investigation of Medicaid provider fraud. The role affirmatively litigates against companies, organizations, and individuals alleged to have defrauded the State Medicaid fund under the Washington State False Claims Act. MFA also addresses abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults in residential facilities and Medicaid recipients in connection with Medicaid services, with a focus on systemic issues in long-term care facilities. MFA cases are complex, often lengthy white-collar fraud and abuse investigations. Attorneys manage robust caseloads and direct investigations from the outset as part of teams that may include analysts, special agents, nurses, and paralegals. Cases are resolved through litigation or negotiation. The work involves state and federal courts and collaboration with national, federal, state, and local law-enforcement partners. As a member of division and AGO management, the Managing AAG supervises civil prosecution and investigation, mentors and evaluates attorneys, participates in division leadership, develops operational processes, allocates resources, and assists with intake and referral assessments. The position may be based in Olympia, downtown Seattle, or Spokane, depending on the needs of the office and the successful candidate. Schedule flexibility and telecommuting options are available consistent with office needs.
