Managing AAG 1 - Medicaid Fraud & Abuse Division, Criminal, Multiple Locations

State of Washington•Multiple Locations Statewide, WA

About The Position

The Washington State Attorney General’s Office is hiring a Managing Assistant Attorney General 1 for its Medicaid Fraud & Abuse Division (MFA). This is a primarily criminal prosecutor and litigator position based in Olympia, downtown Seattle, or Spokane, depending on the needs and interests of the selected candidate. The attorney supervises and participates in investigations and prosecutions involving Medicaid provider fraud, as well as abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults in residential facilities and Medicaid recipients in connection with Medicaid services. Cases may be pursued using civil and criminal remedies. MFA is a civil and criminal law-enforcement division that handles complex, often long-running investigations ranging from organized corporate fraud to individual provider fraud or abuse. Attorneys work on cases from the outset, coordinating with a team of attorneys, investigators, data scientists, paralegals, and clinical investigators, and resolve matters through litigation or negotiation. The division also collaborates with national and federal partners and provides specialized training and investigative-network opportunities. As a member of division and AGO management, the Managing AAG supervises criminal prosecution and investigation, mentors and evaluates attorneys, contributes to division leadership, develops operational processes, allocates resources, and assists with intake and referrals. The AGO describes its workplace as collaborative and supportive, with flexibility in schedules and telecommuting consistent with office needs, and an emphasis on professional development and work-life balance.
