About The Position

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated individual to assist in the administration and oversight of the Consumer Advocacy and Response Division (CARD) as a Managing Administrative Assistant. CARD receives and reviews complaints, advocates on behalf of Massachusetts consumers, and implements settlements entered into by the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) in various areas relating to the Office’s consumer protection efforts, including: debt collection, mortgage lending and servicing, housing, automobile sales and lending, utilities, and professional services. The Division also provides referrals and other assistance to consumers, performs research, engages in community outreach, and participates in public education trainings.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant administrative experience.
  • Effective writing and verbal communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Proven organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and balance long- and short-term projects.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office and software skills.
  • Excellent work ethic and sound judgment in decision making.
  • Demonstrated commitment or interest in public service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supervising/reviewing the work of others, proof-reading, editing documents, and using a case management database, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the workflow of the division to ensure timely responses are provided to incoming consumer complaints and correspondence.
  • Supervises the work of other administrative staff, including the Public Records Coordinator, Administrative Coordinators, Interns and Co-ops.
  • Oversees implementation of office procedures and protocols related to records retention and archiving within CARD.
  • Responds to public records requests and processes complaints.
  • Provides direct support to the Division Chief and Deputy Division Chief, including preparing reports and correspondence, managing schedules, and responding to telephone calls.
  • Acts as the CARD contact for bureaus and divisions across the office and periodically serving as a floor supervisor, supporting team members that meet with visitors to the Boston office.
