About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is looking for a Manager, Women's Services to work collaboratively with department director to achieve FHCSD strategic goals. Develop and implement programs and projects that support and enhance Women’s Services. FHCSD's mission is to provide caring, affordable, high-quality health care and supportive services to everyone, with a special commitment to uninsured, low-income and medically underserved persons. FHCSD is one of the top 10 largest federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) in the country, operating more than 90 sites across San Diego County. They provide care to over 227,000 patients each year, with 91% being low-income and 29% uninsured. Services include adult care, chronic disease management, pediatrics, comprehensive women’s care including obstetrics, dental, vision, case management, physical rehabilitation, speech therapy for children, vaccinations, infectious diseases, behavioral health, substance use counseling, and a host of specialty services. FHCSD also offers supportive services to those who are unsheltered and in need of intensive case management. The organization is the largest community clinic provider of health care to the uninsured in the county and one of the top 10 largest community clinic organizations in the nation. They are also the largest health care safety-net provider, largest school-based health care provider, and the largest mental health provider in the San Diego region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science, Social Sciences, or Nursing; OR Associate's degree in Nursing, RN licensure preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is required as an essential function of the job. Must have a car, a valid California driver’s license, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver’s license within ten days of establishing residency. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.
  • 2 – 4 years of supervisory experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing healthcare or social service projects.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients from diverse social, cultural, and economic groups.
  • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to be culturally sensitive and respect diversity.
  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques, including performance management and employee development.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to include critical thinking skills in developing solutions.
  • Successful track record of leading and driving positive change through others.
  • Intermediate computer literacy ability to comply with department needs and expectations, including MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Coaches and counsels staff and administers appropriate disciplinary action in a timely manner.
  • Creates and implements systems and processes to ensure company goals and strategic plans are met, including evaluation, recommendation of changes, implementation, training, and evaluation of effectiveness.
  • Gathers program data, conducts analysis, and provides reporting, to include productivity reports.
  • Creates and updates training materials, conducts trainings, and provides on-going guidance for Women’s Services team.
  • Ensures applicable regulatory and department standards are adhered to (i.e., The Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.). Monitors compliance with grants and program guidelines.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Provides/ensures staff receive all new hire and annual trainings on time.
  • Manages assigned team, including hiring, performance management, training, scheduling, and corrective discipline (including termination) as needed.
  • Works closely with Women’s Services team to develop and implement a wide range of programs to improve patient knowledge and ensure compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
