About The Position

IREN is seeking a Manager, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) to establish and lead the company's corporate VDC function. This role will define the strategy, standards, and digital delivery framework for applying BIM, model-based coordination, and data-rich design processes across IREN's data center portfolio. It's a corporate enablement role focused on setting standards, tools, and workflows for all projects, supporting project teams, and ensuring lessons learned are integrated back into company-wide standards. The position is within the Innovation organization, aiming to shorten design and delivery timelines through digital, model-first methods. IREN is committed to sustainable data center operations powered by 100% renewable energy.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in VDC, BIM management, or digital construction delivery.
  • Minimum 3+ years leading VDC programs or teams.
  • Expert proficiency with industry-standard VDC toolsets (e.g., Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC or equivalent CDE platforms).
  • Demonstrated experience federating and coordinating large multidisciplinary models.
  • Proven track record establishing corporate BIM/VDC standards and execution plans, and enforcing them across external partners.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems sufficient to lead multidisciplinary coordination and constructability reviews.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate technical model data into decisions for executives and field teams.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center, mission-critical, or large industrial project experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting prefabrication or modular construction from fabrication-level models.
  • Exposure to 4D/5D workflows, reality capture, or digital twin programs.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Autodesk, buildingSMART) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own IREN's enterprise VDC roadmap, establishing BIM execution plans, modeling standards, level-of-development (LOD) requirements, naming conventions, and quality benchmarks.
  • Develop governance for how design partners, general contractors, and trade partners author, exchange, and federate models, embedding VDC requirements into contracts and agreements.
  • Standardize the transition of model data across the project lifecycle, ensuring the model remains the single source of truth.
  • Support project teams by providing guidance, templates, and best practices for federated model management, clash detection, constructability reviews, and coordination cadences.
  • Advise project teams on model-based quantity takeoff, sequencing (4D), and cost integration (5D).
  • Support prefabrication and modular construction initiatives by ensuring models are developed to fabrication-level detail.
  • Provide hands-on escalation support on complex coordination challenges.
  • Own the corporate VDC technology stack, evaluating, selecting, and administering authoring, federation, coordination, and common data environment (CDE) platforms.
  • Integrate model data with adjacent systems such as project controls, document management, GIS, asset management, and digital twin initiatives.
  • Monitor emerging capabilities in reality capture, automated clash resolution, generative design, and AI-assisted coordination, piloting promising technologies.
  • Partner with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Commissioning, and Data Center Operations to align VDC deliverables with their data consumption needs.
  • Serve as IREN's primary interface with external design firms, general contractors, and fabricators on VDC matters.
  • Build and lead IREN's corporate VDC team, recruiting and structuring the team to support standards development and project delivery.
  • Develop internal VDC capability across the organization through training, playbooks, and documented workflows.
  • Establish KPIs for VDC performance and report outcomes to executive leadership.
  • Run structured lessons-learned reviews after each project phase to feed improvements back into corporate standards.
