About The Position

Leads the team in providing comprehensive support to veterans and their dependents, ensuring they understand and obtain their full range of federal, state, and local benefits. Supervises a team of Veterans Service Officers (VSOs), develops and implements department strategies, and advocates for veterans' rights within the community. Analyzes veteran needs and community trends, crafting strategic plans to enhance the department's effectiveness in serving veterans. Builds strong relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, advocating for veterans' rights and benefits within the community. Ensures veterans and their dependents receive expert guidance and assistance on accessing and applying for benefits.

Requirements

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate
  • Nine (9) years of experience in human services, counseling, or social work
  • Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience
  • Must be a current accredited Veteran Service Officer at the time of application

Responsibilities

  • Leads the team in providing comprehensive support to veterans and their dependents.
  • Ensures veterans and their dependents understand and obtain their full range of federal, state, and local benefits.

  • Manages professional and/or skilled support staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Leads within the established objectives and makes decisions regarding daily priorities and the application of technical/business processes for a work group or segment of a department.
  • Sets overall direction and holds staff accountable for accomplishing work objectives by fostering positive relationships between employees, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Uses organizational and/or department objectives and goals to identify processes by which to meet those goals.
