About The Position

The Manager Trainee is a full-time, entry-level position designed to prepare the employee for a leadership role at 84 Lumber. The role provides structured classroom, online, and hands-on training across store operations, with the goal of promotion to management. Promotion may occur within 6–12 months based on performance and position availability, and management roles may require relocation. Trainees must complete the assigned learning plan and course of study within the required timeframe. The company states that no prior experience is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Availability for a full-time schedule of 48 or more hours per week, including overtime.
• Willingness to relocate for a management position.
• Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, and lifting up to 80 pounds, and to work around machinery and airborne particles.
• No prior experience is required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Support customers and drive sales in a retail store environment.
• Learn store operations and inventory management, including material and supply-chain flow, stock, and merchandising.
• Read blueprints and create material estimates or lists for building projects.
• Learn safe material handling and forklift operation and certification.
• Learn business management tasks, including payroll, invoicing, inventory, and financial analysis.
• Respond to common customer inquiries or complaints.
• Use POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Complete the assigned learning plan and course of study within the required timeframe.
