Manager, Supply Chain Logistics & Warehouse

Celestica International LP•Richardson, TX

About The Position

The 3PL Day Operations Manager provides direct, tactical oversight of a contracted third-party logistics (3PL) partner during an assigned shift. Serving as the on-the-floor point of contact, the manager ensures the vendor executes daily operational plans, meets hourly throughput targets, and follows quality and safety standards. The role monitors real-time performance, resolves operational bottlenecks, and captures accurate data to support longer-term vendor management. The manager leads shift kickoff and handover activities, monitors warehouse-floor operations and WMS workflows, audits shipment quality and facility safety, verifies inbound and outbound freight processes, and prepares end-of-shift reporting. The position requires an active presence on the warehouse floor for most of the shift, including walking and standing, with occasional bending, reaching, and lifting of light objects up to 25 pounds. The work environment may include seasonal temperature variations, dust, and continuous noise from material-handling equipment. The schedule may require overtime or adjustments during peak seasonal volume surges.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in warehousing, fulfillment, or logistics operations, including at least 1–2 years in a team lead, coordinator, or supervisory capacity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, combined with robust, relevant floor leadership experience.
  • Practical daily experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanning equipment to track inventory and labor productivity.
  • Ability to track real-time receiving, picking, packing, and shipping workflows against daily targets and identify immediate bottlenecks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for shift handoffs, real-time escalations, and directing 3PL floor leadership.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve system mismatches, inventory discrepancies, and operational delays during production hours.
  • Knowledge of inventory practices, including cycle-counting support, dock-to-stock metrics, and basic reconciliation between company ERP and 3PL WMS.
  • Thorough understanding of OSHA guidelines, warehouse safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and navigate active warehouse floors for most of the assigned shift.
  • Ability to occasionally bend, reach, and lift light objects up to 25 pounds during inventory verification or quality inspections.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic warehouse environment with seasonal temperature variations, dust, and continuous noise from material-handling equipment.
  • Willingness to work the designated assigned-shift hours, including potential overtime or schedule adjustments during peak seasonal volume surges.

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Operations, or a related field.
  • Forklift safety certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Introductory training in Lean/5S principles.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift kickoff meetings with 3PL floor leads to communicate volume expectations, special processing instructions, carrier arrival schedules, and shift focus areas.
  • Spend 70–80% of the shift on the warehouse floor observing 3PL labor, monitoring dock activity and picking and packing pace, and resolving immediate operational bottlenecks.
  • Monitor real-time WMS order queues, ensure orders progress from drop to shipment, and identify stuck or delayed orders before cutoff deadlines.
  • Conduct random daily quality checks on outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, and palletization.
  • Ensure 3PL staff follow facility safety protocols, including PPE use, safe equipment operation, and keeping aisles clear.
  • Oversee inbound dock-to-stock timing and outbound staging, ensuring freight is accurately scanned and loaded and driver sign-offs (BOLs) are properly completed.
  • Complete an end-of-shift report documenting throughput versus targets, backlogs, labor hours, safety incidents, and open issues for the incoming supervisor and 3PL Operations Manager.
