About The Position

The Manager, Student Rights and Responsibilities provides leadership and oversight for the College's student conduct program and related student accountability processes. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the position is responsible for the administration of the Student Code of Conduct, conduct investigations and resolution processes, policy development and implementation, compliance oversight, assessment initiatives, and campus-wide educational programming. The Manager serves as a key institutional resource on student conduct matters and collaborates with College leadership to promote student success, campus safety, accountability, and an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree
Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in student conduct, student affairs, student support services, higher education administration, human resources, or a related field
Knowledge of higher education policies and legal issues related to student conduct, including FERPA, Title IX, and the Stop Campus Hazing Act
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and restorative practices in student conduct work
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using student systems and databases

Responsibilities

Provides overall leadership and oversight for the College's student conduct program, including administration of the Code of Student Conduct, case management processes, educational interventions, policy implementation, assessment activities, and the development and implementation of process improvements and operational enhancements that strengthen student conduct services, educational outcomes, and continuous improvement efforts.
Leads the review, revision, and implementation of student conduct policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with evolving federal and state regulations and higher education best practices.
Conducts student conduct conferences, hearings, and resolution meetings, and determines appropriate outcomes, sanctions, and educational interventions designed to promote accountability and student development.
Meets with students involved in conduct matters to review reports, explain rights and responsibilities, discuss expectations, connect them to appropriate support resources, provide guidance regarding conduct matters, conflict resolution, and behavioral expectations, communicate outcomes, and monitor student compliance with assigned sanctions and educational requirements.
Develops and monitors key performance indicators and assessment measures to evaluate student conduct processes and educational interventions, lead the assessment of student conduct trends, identify emerging behavioral concerns, and develop strategic initiatives to improve student accountability, retention, and campus climate.
Maintains accurate, confidential case records and compiles data to support reporting, assessment, and continuous improvement of conduct policies and educational practices, and prepares and presents annual reports and recommendations regarding student conduct trends, outcomes, and program effectiveness to College leadership.
Represents Student Rights and Responsibilities on institutional committees, task forces, and cross-divisional initiatives focused on student wellbeing, safety, and success, including service as a member of the Academic Integrity Committee.
Partners with College leadership to assess institutional risk associated with student conduct issues and develops appropriate response strategies.
Assesses behavioral concerns and coordinates appropriate interventions and referrals, serves as a core member of the Behavioral Intervention Team and threat assessment processes, providing recommendations regarding student conduct matters and risk mitigation strategies, and assists with crisis response and student support initiatives as needed.
Collaborates with campus departments—including Academic Advising, Student Wellness and Counseling, Campus Police, and the Perth Amboy and New Brunswick Centers—to support student wellbeing and coordinated care responses.
Develops and delivers educational programs, workshops, trainings, and outreach related to student conduct, community standards, restorative practices, conflict resolution, responsible decision-making, behavioral expectations, and student rights and responsibilities, including annual conduct education for student clubs, athletes, academic cohorts, and other populations, while promoting restorative practices and educational approaches to student accountability.
Supports new student orientation and student success initiatives related to behavioral expectations and campus citizenship.
Oversees compliance efforts related to student conduct requirements including FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX coordination, and the Stop Campus Hazing Act while serving as a campus resource on applicable regulations.
