Requirements

  • Degree in Civil, Water Resources or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline from a recognized university
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in municipal stormwater engineering and planning, including site specific, community, watershed or municipality-wide studies and infrastructure projects related to flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure and creek rehabilitation
  • Demonstrated experience in Municipal Class Environmental Assessment, project management and stakeholder consultation
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills necessary to prepare reports and presentations to staff, external agencies, consultants, stakeholders, members of the public and Council
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to lead, develop, implement and manage multidisciplinary projects and programs
  • Demonstrated ability to apply strategic agility and business acumen, build relationships, develop culture and people, drive innovative changes, and be accountable for results
  • Proficient with common office computer software, including MS-Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS-Project, or equivalent.
  • Must be able to attend project site visits and meetings within the City of Mississauga and the GTA

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with database, GIS and hydrologic/hydraulic modelling software would be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of professional technical staff responsible for undertaking studies and capital projects related to stormwater infrastructure planning and design including flood control, water quality, linear infrastructure and creek rehabilitation
  • Oversee the procurement and management of contracts and deliverables of consultants on stormwater related studies and design projects
  • Ensure that the team, consultants and internal and external stakeholders meet project deliverables and schedules
  • Provide specialized engineering input as required to internal stakeholders on stormwater related matters
  • Provide input and recommendations in the preparation of the Stormwater Business Plan and Budget
  • Prepare and/or review written correspondence, corporate reports and presentations to internal and external clients, including residents, regulatory agencies and Mayor and Members of Council
  • Participate and represent the section/division/department/city on internal and external working groups and committees as required
  • Keep current on best practices, standards, regulations and technologies related to stormwater and project management
  • Other related duties as assigned
