About The Position

This position is part of a team responsible for the strategic sourcing and procurement activities supporting BNSF's Operations departments. Key focus areas include supplier development, contract and purchase order negotiations, supplier and stakeholder relationship management, catalog management, supplier quality, and total cost of ownership optimization. The role involves setting strategic vision and partnering with Operations departments on future projects and commercial agreements, managing existing commercial agreements, and assisting field locations and maintenance providers on optimizing service provider performance. The position will lead cross-functional teams in the identification and execution of Strategic Sourcing requirements, strategies, and process improvements, as well as support internal stakeholders, specifically BNSF’s Transportation and Engineering departments. Procurement of railroad signal materials and setting strategy supporting the procurement plan for the BNSF signal team are key responsibilities. Additionally, this position will be responsible for the strategy, procurement, and management of propane delivery services for the BNSF network. Understanding stakeholder requirements and translating those into impactful actions and process improvements will be very important to success in this role. This position interfaces closely with internal stakeholders in Transportation, Engineering, Safety, Sourcing, Finance, Law, and BNSF Tech, as well as external suppliers and service providers. Candidate must have strong leadership skills, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, and must be an effective communicator with both internal and external contacts. Excellent business partnership and relationship skills are required. Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment. Relocation assistance is available depending on business needs. Requirements

  • Able to work now and in the future without BNSF’s assistance (whether monetary, through sponsorship, or otherwise) in obtaining, maintaining, or extending employment authorization (including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN nonimmigrant status).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • At least a minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, finance, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Professional certification, such as CPA, MBA, APICS, or CPM is encouraged as it supports professional insights and excellence
