About The Position

Gildan is a leading manufacturer of everyday basic apparel with a strong portfolio of brands. Gildan operates vertically integrated, large-scale manufacturing facilities. The company has a strong commitment to industry-leading labor, environmental, and governance practices. This role provides direction, leadership, and coaching to the Spinning Department staff. The ability to diagnose and fix issues while leading others is important, as well as the ability to make recommendations related to Spinning issues, mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and preventive maintenance. Areas of responsibility include all Spinning and Winding equipment, as well as auxiliary equipment. Ensures Spinning Maintenance Department objectives are met, including project, cost, productivity, quality, and safety factors. This position reports to the Plant Manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Years of work experience in a manufacturing/Industrial environment
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Manufacturing/Operations preferred
  • 3-5 years management experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting skills
  • High level of safety awareness
  • Ability to work in a cotton dust environment

Nice To Haves

  • Textile or Engineering orientation preferred
  • Demonstrated ability of proficiency in Microsoft Office, record keeping, routine database activity, spreadsheet preparation and ability to review basic financial targets and develop programs to overcome deficiencies through data.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Spinning and Winding technical staff, including assigning work duties, establishing work priorities, providing direction and expertise, guidance, and corrective actions.
  • Assess, train, and develop competencies for the Spinning & Winding Maintenance function.
  • Determine Spinning and Winding maintenance schedules, sequence, and assignment for work activities based on mill priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and order parts, supplies, and materials as needed to ensure continuity in the Spinning Department production schedule.
  • Champion safety initiatives and adhere to company safety standards and requirements.
  • Drive a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Understand business needs quickly and use organizational, communication, and leadership skills to engage people at all levels to drive change.
  • Work with Human Resources to support all aspects of staffing and promote retention efforts.
