Manager, Software Engineering (Fintech)

ServiceTitanUS WA Remote, WA
$185,300 - $297,400Hybrid

About The Position

ServiceTitan is building the financial backbone that powers how our customers move money — from getting paid faster to accessing capital when they need it. As part of our Fintech organization, you'll help lead one squad on the Financing team, responsible for the "money in" and "money out" experiences that over 50,000 businesses rely on every day. You will be part of the engineering leadership team at ServiceTitan, responsible for growing the organization and delivering product excellence in a space where reliability, compliance, and trust are non-negotiable. We provide exciting opportunities to make an immediate impact in our rapidly growing startup. We are quality-minded, use the most modern tools on the Microsoft .NET platform, have an amazing culture, and love solving complex problems — especially the kind that come with building fintech products at scale. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Financing Team (8 engineers) within R&D at ServiceTitan. We need a thoughtful, proactive leader who supports their team, encourages growth, and drives accountability through results — someone who can balance rapid iteration with the high product quality and risk-awareness that financial products demand. You're innovative, comfortable with ambiguity, and partner well with Product, Project Managers, Designers, Risk/Compliance, and other stakeholders as we run cross-functional agile teams building lending, credit, and capital-access products.

Requirements

  • Most of your work will be leadership and management focused, but you'll be expected to guide your team's technical decisions and contribute hands-on as needed
  • 3+ years of experience managing small to medium software engineering teams, preferably in an agile environment
  • 8+ years of experience in senior engineering roles (designing APIs, abstractions, and tools used by other engineers)
  • Strong technical chops as a backend or full-stack engineer, with expert-level knowledge of: Microsoft .NET (C#, ASP.NET MVC, Web APIs) and SQL databases (Microsoft SQL Server or similar) — preferred
  • Git, unit testing, debugging, profiling, performance monitoring
  • Distributed architecture best practices, especially around data consistency, auditability, and reliability — critical in financial systems
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • AI as a Teammate: Hands-on experience leveraging AI coding tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, GitHub Copilot) to accelerate development, improve code quality, and streamline debugging workflows.
  • Engineering Judgment: Ability to critically evaluate and integrate AI-generated output, applying sound engineering judgment to ensure correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • AI Integration: Experience integrating LLM APIs (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic) or AI services into production applications.
  • A Growth Mindset: Eagerness to stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and champion best practices for AI-assisted development within the team.
  • Build an AI-Forward Culture: Create an environment where AI-assisted development is a team standard, not an outlier — driving adoption across your teams, coaching managers on best practices, and ensuring AI tooling becomes embedded in how your org ships and scales.

Nice To Haves

  • Fintech, payments, or financial-services domain knowledge is a strong plus
  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field a plus

Responsibilities

  • Take end-to-end ownership of your team's projects across the Financing product area (e.g., business financing, credit, and capital-access offerings)
  • Mentor and guide engineers within your team and occasionally across teams
  • Help your team improve their performance and the quality of their work; make major design decisions for systems that move real money and carry real financial risk
  • Partner closely with Product, Risk, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure financing products are built responsibly and meet regulatory and audit requirements
  • Collaborate with Recruiting — interview candidates and co-own lead generation (tech talks, blog posts) and screening activities
  • Communicate effectively with developers, product managers, customers, partners, and other leaders across the broader Fintech org (Payments, Payables)
