About The Position

Figma’s AI Infrastructure team builds foundational inference systems for the company’s AI products, including Figma Make and Figma Agent. The team ensures these products are reliable, observable, and able to use the latest models. It owns production services such as the AI gateway, metering systems, and trace infrastructure, as well as the strategy for hosting first-party models.

Figma is seeking a hands-on engineering leader to grow the team, define and execute its technical strategy, and collaborate across engineering to build AI features. This full-time role may be based at a US hub or remotely within the United States.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of engineering management experience leading high-performing, fast-moving teams; AI experience is ideal.
• At least 8 years of total engineering experience, ideally including experience at staff engineer level as an individual contributor.
• Experience working on production AI systems.
• A proven track record of motivating, mentoring, and growing experienced AI engineering leads.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new AI technologies quickly and build technical depth in a new domain.
• Experience building and scaling engineering teams and organizational structures as they grow.

Nice To Haves

• Experience building AI agents, agent harnesses or loops, or LLM/agent tooling platforms.
• Experience building high-scale production infrastructure, such as traffic or inference systems, metering, anti-abuse, and billing systems.
• A background in adjacent platform domains, such as recommendation systems or networking.

Responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and support a team of engineers building foundational infrastructure for Figma’s AI products.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders across Figma to define technical strategy and manage day-to-day project execution.
• Hire, coach, and develop senior and staff engineers to scale the team.
• Engage deeply with technical details and decisions as needed to help the team deliver a robust AI platform with urgency.
