About The Position

Pyka is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Manager to lead the team building and operating cloud systems, data infrastructure, and developer tools for its autonomous aircraft programs. The team’s work supports aircraft logs and operational data, software distribution, CI pipelines, and machine learning pipelines, helping engineers develop and ship software efficiently and making data accessible across the company. The manager is responsible for team execution and team health, delivering high-quality work while supporting engineers’ growth. The role works closely with engineering, flight operations, and customer success to set priorities and build infrastructure that scales with the company and its fleet. Projects include aircraft data collection and access, CI and release systems, machine learning infrastructure, data management, automated infrastructure provisioning and deployment, internal and customer-facing tools, and improvements to monitoring, recovery, security, and cost efficiency. The position requires access to technology and information subject to governmental export-control restrictions. Employment is conditioned on continued availability of any required government authorization. Pyka may take actions such as delaying employment commencement or modifying responsibilities to ensure compliance with applicable restrictions.

Requirements

At least 6 years of experience in software engineering, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or related roles.
Prior experience managing engineers, including coaching, setting priorities, and supporting individual development.
Experience designing, deploying, and operating production systems on Google Cloud, including Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery.
Strong technical foundation in Python, Linux systems, networking, databases, and modern software development workflows.
Experience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD systems, containers, and deployment automation.
Familiarity with infrastructure supporting data analysis and machine learning workflows.
Experience improving system reliability through monitoring, incident response, and operational practices.
Experience with cloud security, access management, and cost management.
Strong technical judgment and ability to make practical tradeoffs between immediate needs and long-term maintainability.
Experience working across teams to turn ambiguous engineering and operational needs into concrete plans.
Comfort working in fast-moving, highly collaborative environments with evolving priorities.
Ability to obtain and maintain any government authorization required for access to export-controlled technology and information.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting robotics, autonomous systems, or other hardware-focused engineering teams.
Experience with Pulumi or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers delivering infrastructure and tooling projects end-to-end, from requirements definition through deployment and ongoing maintenance.
Own team and project roadmaps, balancing company priorities, operational needs, and long-term infrastructure improvements.
Own project execution by defining milestones and priorities, tracking progress, and adjusting as requirements evolve.
Own the infrastructure and practices for managing aircraft and engineering data.
Guide infrastructure decisions with attention to security, scalability, performance, and cost.
Hire, onboard, mentor, and support engineers through regular feedback and coaching.
Contribute technically as needed by guiding architecture, reviewing designs, debugging complex issues, or unblocking work.
