About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Space Software Engineering Manager to join the Payload and Ground Eastern Region team. The manager provides technical oversight throughout the software development lifecycle—including design, development, integration, and maintenance of software components—and supports system integration and test. The role leads and guides a matrixed functional team of software engineers, supports software processes and career development, and conducts performance appraisals. The manager also participates in proposal generation, staffing allocations, and recruiting, and guides the team in applying appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools across the system development lifecycle.

The manager leads and coordinates a team through challenging software development activities using an Agile approach. Work includes decomposing requirements into Agile features, software design, coding, testing, integration, and systems testing to deliver enhanced secure capabilities. Strong communication and active leadership are important to the position.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another STEM discipline with 8+ years of related STEM experience; a master's degree with 6+ years; a PhD with 3+ years; or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5 years of progressive software engineering or development experience in C++ or Python.
• Experience with distributed software development of large-scale systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
• Experience leading a software development team and providing direction to team members.
• Experience creating Agile roadmaps and plans and executing them.
• Current DoD Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and hold an SCI.

Nice To Haves

• 7 years of progressive software engineering or development experience in C++ or Python.
• 3 years of experience leading a software development team.
• Experience as an IPT lead.
• Experience as a scrum master and/or product owner.
• Experience in people management, including team members' career development and performance.
• Experience managing a budget for technical activities.
• Control Account Management experience managing program schedule and budget data.

• Solid understanding of Kubernetes, including Helm charts, service discovery, and autoscaling.
• Current DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI.
