About The Position

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Manager Software Engineering 2. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program. This position is a dual-hat position requiring the candidate to perform functional management activities as well as program responsibilities. It is expected that the Functional management role will comprise up to 20% of the candidate's time. The candidate will be responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs. He/she will also be responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers. The candidate will also be responsible for leading a team of system software engineers, providing guidance, and assigning work regarding the system software architecture & requirements of GNC software to ensure alignment with system architecture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience software development experience or master’s with 6 years of experience or 4 additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance , current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP)
  • Experience with Agile principles to include Kanban, Scrum
  • Experience in software development using languages such as C++, Python
  • Experience with MBSE, software design & requirement management
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all positions with a government clearance and certain other restricted positions.

  • Experience leading Software Engineering teams
  • At least 1-year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule

  • Able to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans and then execute those plans
  • Experience with executing software development processes
  • CAM certification or willingness to obtain within first 6 months
  • Familiarization with DO178 and process that covers software development lifecycle
  • Understands best practices required for the development of Safety Critical Software Development

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug software/system applications.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
  • Collaborate with a team of software engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones.
  • Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
  • Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.
  • Assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
  • Supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  • Leading a team of system software engineers, providing guidance, and assigning work regarding the system software architecture & requirements of GNC software to ensure alignment with system architecture.
