About The Position

The Manager, Sleep Lab & EEG Services provides operational and clinical leadership for hospital-based sleep diagnostic services (in-lab polysomnography and related sleep testing) and electroencephalography (EEG) services. This role is responsible for day-to-day department operations, staffing and scheduling, regulatory and accreditation readiness, quality and patient safety outcomes, equipment and supply management, and fiscal stewardship. The manager collaborates with medical directors, providers, and hospital leadership to ensure timely, accurate testing, exceptional patient experience, and compliance with applicable standards (e.g., Joint Commission and AASM sleep accreditation standards, as applicable).

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited educational program in sleep technology, neurodiagnostic technology (EEG), respiratory therapy, or a related allied health field.
  • BLS required.
  • Sleep credential required (RPSGT, RST, or SDS) and/or EEG credential preferred (ABRET R. EEG T.).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a sleep lab and/or EEG/neurodiagnostic setting required, including demonstrated proficiency with applicable testing modalities.
  • Prior leadership, charge, or supervisory experience required; manager-level experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Additional advanced neurodiagnostic credentials (e.g., CLTM, CNIM) may be preferred based on services provided.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate daily operations for Sleep Lab and EEG services, including patient flow, scheduling, staffing coverage, and on-call needs as applicable.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop technical and support staff; assist with hiring, onboarding, competency validation, performance evaluations, and corrective action in accordance with HR policies.
  • Ensure testing is performed according to physician orders and established protocols, including PSG, PAP titration, MSLT/MWT (as applicable), routine EEG, ambulatory EEG, and long-term monitoring workflows supported by the department.
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory, accreditation, and licensure requirements; coordinate department policies/procedures, documentation standards, and audits (including AASM sleep accreditation standards, as applicable).
  • Lead quality assurance and performance improvement activities (e.g., study quality, scoring/interpretation workflows, turnaround times, patient satisfaction, safety events), and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Partner with Sleep Medicine, Neurology, and other stakeholders to optimize service delivery, clarify test indications, support clinical pathways, and resolve operational issues.
  • Oversee equipment, software, and supplies for polysomnography and EEG (including maintenance schedules, troubleshooting, vendor coordination, and capital planning).
  • Support accurate charge capture, documentation, and billing workflows; monitor productivity and key metrics and report results to leadership.
  • Promote a culture of safety, service excellence, privacy (HIPAA), infection prevention, and patient-centered care for a diverse patient population.
  • Serve as a clinical resource during complex studies and escalations, including troubleshooting artifacts, workflow barriers, and urgent coordination needs.
