Manage wind farm operations, maintenance, safety, permit compliance, and contractor performance to provide a safe, efficient, and reliable source of power that supports Company profitability. This role involves managing daily wind farm operations, coordinating with various teams, leading planning and outage coordination, overseeing balance-of-plant and substation activities, and administering service, maintenance, and warranty agreements. The position also requires preparing and managing budgets, analyzing performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, building stakeholder relationships, and performing field inspections. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical, engineering, business, or related post-secondary education preferred.
  • Ten (10) or more years of relevant wind energy, power generation, electrical, mechanical, operations, or maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of leadership, supervisory, project-team, or contractor-management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of wind farm operations, substations, safe work practices, electrical switching, lockout/tagout, contractor oversight, and regulatory or permit compliance.
  • Ability to interpret and administer service, maintenance, warranty, and operating agreements and to analyze turbine performance, downtime, budgets, and expenses.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, planning, problem-solving, and relationship-management skills; proficiency with Company computer systems and operational reporting tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the physical, travel, personal protective equipment, and fall protection requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily wind farm operations and coordinate work with the turbine service provider, Company personnel, substation electricians, transmission and distribution teams, and contractors.
  • Lead daily planning and outage coordination; verify safety protocols, preventive maintenance schedules, and maintenance requirements are followed; and plan full or partial park outages as needed.
  • Oversee balance-of-plant and substation activities, including inspections, contractor work, electrical switching, line locating, lockout/tagout procedures, and service as switching authority.
  • Administer wind turbine service, maintenance, warranty, and operating agreements; document lightning inspections and warranty claims; review downtime allocation; and address contractor performance concerns.
  • Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets, control expenses, coordinate cost and inventory documentation, and support informed business decisions.
  • Analyze wind farm and turbine performance using operational reports; identify deficiencies, track availability and downtime, and coordinate corrective actions with the service provider.
  • Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, environmental permits, interconnection requirements, and Company policies while promoting a strong safety culture through audits, oversight, and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Build positive relationships with landowners, county officials, and community stakeholders; address concerns and provide documentation supporting accurate crop-damage payments.
  • Perform field inspections and respond to operational needs, including walking on rural terrain, climbing stairs and ladders, inspecting equipment, driving between turbine sites, working varying hours and weather conditions, and climbing with fall protection when required.
