The Department of Learning and Engagement at The Museum of Modern Art supports the Museum’s founding educational mission to ensure that people of all ages and abilities “enjoy, understand and use” the art of our time in ways that add value to their lives. The department collaborates across the organization to empower a diverse public to form their own interpretations and connections to art by telling stories, asking questions, actively making and participating in the artistic process, and offering and listening to multiple perspectives. Programs offered by the department range from talks and lectures to artist-driven activations, online courses, studio programs, facilitated gallery explorations, workshops, publications and more. The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Manager, Public Engagement (Scaled Programs and Events) to lead the conception, planning, and production of MoMA’s highest-volume public programs and events—initiatives designed to welcome the broadest possible audiences into the Museum and connect them meaningfully with the art of our time. Working across Learning and Engagement, this role is responsible for contributing to and/or developing and delivering scaled offerings such as UNIQLO Free Friday Nights, late-night programs, family festivals, large public talks, performance activations, and seasonal programs that serve thousands of visitors. The Manager will conceive, collaborate on, and produce events that catalyze meaningful encounters with art for first-time visitors, families, students, and longtime members alike, with a focus on inclusion, accessibility, and operational excellence at scale. The Manager will manage and provide guidance to staff, including Coordinators, Associate Educators, and Assistant Educators, as part of a team to design, coordinate, implement, and facilitate scaled public programs and events that provide impactful experiences, attract new audiences, and engender critical conversations. This position will report to and work closely with the Director, Public Engagement to identify and manage potential community-based partnerships that align to this work at the Museum, including strengthening and expanding partnerships with cultural organizations, civic agencies, and audience networks across the New York area.
