About The Position

This position provides safety leadership and strategic direction by leading the plant’s continuous safety improvement initiatives. As a key member of the Plant Management Team, the role supports and advises site leadership on the Safety Management System and drives efforts to create a sustainable, safe, and healthy work environment. Responsibilities include developing and executing a proactive safety strategy; contributing to the plant’s safety vision through the enhancement of existing programs and implementation of new initiatives; and actively working to prevent and reduce safety, health, and medical incidents. This role also fosters a strong safety culture aligned with company values and serves as a change agent to promote best practices across the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in environmental health, safety, or sustainability management preferred
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, hazard communication, accident investigation, and safety training methods
  • Familiarity with PSM and RMP practices preferred
  • Proficiency in standard computer applications
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations
  • Strong written communication skills required
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage site safety programs
  • Recommend and implement initiatives to minimize workplace incidents and associated losses
  • Monitor and measure program effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company ergonomic programs
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Maintain OSHA documentation and support records
  • Accompany OSHA inspectors during site visits
  • Conduct regular facility audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures
  • Communicate safety policies and procedural updates to leadership and staff
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually or as required
  • Conducting safety audits and field inspections
  • Taking immediate corrective action when necessary
  • Delivering training on topics such as ergonomics, emergency response, lockout/tagout, hazard communication, and personal protective equipment
  • Investigating all safety-related incidents, completing required reports for insurance, risk management, and corporate safety
