About The Position

As a Manager in the Retail Bank Risk Office at Capital One, you’ll be responsible for working with business partners to identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Managers at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable. This role will focus on risks and controls impacting Payment Operations. You'll play a key role in ensuring that millions of customers interact with their money in a well-managed fashion by working closely with business partners to manage the risks associated with payments. You will also coach junior risk associates as they complete risk management activities within your area of responsibility. Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated risk management professionals with excellent problem solving, critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of financial industry experience
  • At least 3 years of financial services risk management experience
  • At least 3 years of payments operations experience
  • At least 3 years of experience independently supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
  • A communicator: You can communicate complex, often technical, ideas clearly across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • A learner: You have an appetite to learn new things or new technologies all while exhibiting humbleness when the time comes to ask for help
  • Team player: You enjoy working with diverse people and driving the team toward a common goal. You have the ability to put the team before yourself and establish long-lasting relationships

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of financial services risk management experience
  • 4+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional projects and programs
  • 4+ years of Process Management experience
  • 1+ years of People Management, Peer Coach, or similar experience
  • Certification within the payments industry (APRP, AAP)

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and guidance to Payment Operations leadership, contextualizing risk and applying a risk-based mindset to prioritize efforts
  • Advise and consult on key initiatives to modernize payment infrastructure and related processes and controls
  • Develop and leverage key relationships with Payment Operations and functional stakeholders to enable collaboration across the enterprise
  • Leverage technology and data to develop proactive risk insight; ensure risk assessments are comprehensive and accurate
  • Identify and track issues and events to mitigate risk within Enterprise Payments, ensuring remediations are responsive to the event and executed timely
  • Consult on change control efforts to ensure impacts are appropriately assessed, documented and implemented
  • Advise business leaders on written and oral responses to audit and regulatory requests
  • Routinely produce high impact reporting to inform business and risk leaders of key risk updates and to drive appropriate actions/escalations.
