We are seeking an experienced Manager, Licensing and Real Estate to join our Legal team at our Global Support Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. This role is responsible for overseeing restaurant licensing requirements for new and existing locations, leading the Licensing Paralegal team, and supporting the administration of our real estate lease portfolio.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional licensing experience, including a minimum of three years of people-management experience.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal licensing and compliance requirements, including experience researching laws and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines with accuracy, composure, and limited supervision.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A hospitality-driven mindset and the ability to balance compliance requirements with practical, restaurant-friendly solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a multi-unit, multi-state restaurant or hospitality organization is strongly preferred.
  • Paralegal certificate preferred.
  • experience with Tango and Avalara is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and project-manage licensing activities across Operations, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and other business partners, ensuring documents, schedules, milestones, and deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Oversee business licenses, food service permits, liquor licenses, environmental permits, and other requirements necessary for our restaurants to operate.
  • Respond to government notices, regulatory inquiries, compliance matters, audit requests, and licensing or permitting issues.
  • Monitor changes in applicable licensing laws and regulations and recommend updates to templates, policies, processes, and best practices.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor Licensing Paralegals, including establishing performance objectives and evaluating performance.
  • Support the negotiation and administration of real estate matters, including new leases, amendments, memoranda of lease, estoppels, and termination agreements.
  • Draft, review, revise, track, and maintain licensing and real estate documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and provide support for special projects.
