About The Position

The Project Manager serves as the central execution engine for the high-growth Alternate Channel Sourcing (ACS) business at Sam’s Club. Supporting unique “treasure hunt” assortments across 15+ categories, the role drives cross-functional projects and improves operational processes. Responsibilities include providing analytical insights for fast decision-making and partnering with buyers, legal, and supply chain teams. By managing complex programs from inception to launch, this position ensures that high-value buys are executed efficiently while maintaining strict compliance and operational excellence. Our team leads alternative sourcing strategies across multiple categories, including Apparel, Home, Fragrance, Beauty, Optical, and Seasonal. We focus on securing high-quality, trend-aligned products when direct brand partnerships are unavailable. By managing supplier relationships, category plans, and pricing strategies, the team supports Walmart’s mission to help members save money and live better. Collaborating cross-functionally, the team ensures effective execution of business plans and maintains strong vendor partnerships. This role demands expertise in vendor and category management, price negotiation, budgeting, and merchandising to deliver value and meet customer needs efficiently.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and executing multiple medium-scale projects or work streams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills to develop and implement communication plans and provide clear status updates.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and escalate project risks and changes while ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability in dynamic environments.
  • Experience mentoring and developing team members to foster accountability and performance.
  • Strong organizational skills with a focus on meeting business objectives and managing budgets effectively.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field and 2 years’ experience in project management, business, operations, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in project management, business, operations, or related area.
  • 1 year’s experience working in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Projects: Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve the speed and efficiency of ACS buying.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage project timelines and deliverables across merchandising, compliance, supply chain, and legal teams.
  • Provide Insights: Build dashboards and analytical tools to support leadership decision-making.
  • Ensure Launches: Coordinate compliance documentation and packaging guidelines to ensure programs launch successfully in clubs and online.
  • Supplier Onboarding: Act as the primary coordinator for major initiatives, including the integration of new suppliers and managing packaging compliance.
  • Strategic Coordination: Partner with planning and supply chain teams to align buying programs with distribution center capacity and club flow.
