This position will be critical managing the launch process for all new products from the innovation calendar for Helen of Troy Liquids. The ideal candidate will have a background in product development within the beauty industry, is beauty obsessed and thrives in a fast-paced, very hands-on environment with a can-do attitude and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years in the personal care industry within Product Development
  • Experience in product development in personal care industry ideally with experience in either haircare or skincare
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and packaging suppliers
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and to identify when assistance is needed and seek help from appropriate parties.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to problem solve.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to switch between projects without sacrificing quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with a passion for product development in beauty, staying up to date with industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Managing and executing all phases of the product development process from concept to launch of liquids.
  • Staying up to date on the latest beauty industry trends, ingredients, packaging and consumer and competitor activity to be able to generate product vision backed with data to inspire and inform briefs and manage product innovation ideation.
  • Maintaining strong product and brand focus keeping the customer top of mind.
  • Managing and creating new product development briefs that address consumer needs and ensure product experience and uniqueness are delivered upon, with the alignment of marketing on key ingredients, features, and benefits.
  • Overseeing the daily functions of product development, sourcing raw materials, working directly with contract manufacturers and internal partners (sourcing, liquid technology, regulatory).
  • Reviewing and evaluating submissions and advising on redirects providing specific directions to CM’s.
  • Supporting the program Manager in ensuring all timing are correct and line with business expectation, managing pilot, and production to ensure product meets all requirements and is consistent throughout scaleup for final approvals and signoff’s, managing and closely monitoring the schedule of manufacturing to ensure batching and fill date stay on track.
  • Supporting development of go-to-market materials, including product claims testing, ingredient stories, usage instructions, and educational content to ensure clear, accurate, and compelling consumer communication.
  • Problem solving, assessing, and removing roadblocks based on any delays and challenges to ensure timely receipt of finished good approval, release, and shipping process.
  • Overseeing the daily functions of packaging development from brief and sizing based off competitive analysis that meet the pricing target, timing, and delivery functionality.
  • Working with outside vendors, tracking on-time launches, and signing off on specs.
  • Managing multiple product development projects and milestones at once.
  • Managing and aligning on claim substantiation plan with Product Marketing and R&D/regulatory/legal.
  • Working closely in collaboration across cross-functional teams (creative, sales, product marketing, brand, sourcing, operations, quality, R&D, packaging and regulatory) to execute product launch strategies to ensure on-time, successful and qualitative launches.
  • Tracking key product development milestones with updates that affect the entire timeline, elevating delays, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions.
  • Communicating key milestone updates as needed if/when dates change/shift.
