About The Position

Energy Transfer is seeking a Measurement Technician - Liquids to join their team. This role is responsible for the operation and maintenance of various equipment and systems related to gas processing and liquid facilities and pipelines. The technician will ensure efficient and cost-effective operations, maintain product specifications, respond to alarms, and monitor process conditions. A key part of the role involves maintaining custody transfer measurement facilities, including meters, samplers, and flow computers, ensuring compliance with partnership and regulatory requirements. The technician will also perform calibrations, inspections, and repairs of instrumentation related to quality and quantity determination, and collect product quality samples.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT, RRC, OSHA, NEC, AGA, API and GPA requirements and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface with our customer base.
  • Level C requires a minimum of 0 - 2 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Level B requires a minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.
  • Level A requires a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in a midstream operations role or equivalent work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • PC skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel.
  • Some college or technical trade school is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain equipment and systems at plant facilities including cryogenic plants, hydrocarbon fractionation units, process controls and measurement, LNG facilities, engines and compressors, pumps, pump stations, pressure relief systems, instrument air systems, dehydrators, fuel systems, treating, emergency shutdown systems, reciprocating compressors, gas fired heaters, process pumps, amine treating systems, inlet gas receivers and NGL storage and transfer facilities.
  • Ensure reliable and efficient operation in compliance with partnership procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Optimize processing through facility by maintaining proper product specifications.
  • Respond to alarms and problems within the plant and take corrective measures.
  • Monitor and control pressures, temperatures, flow rates, and levels to achieve desired operating results and ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Maintain and comply with plant operations in alignment with partnership and environmental standards (PSM-SPCC-TNRCC), including creating and maintaining required reporting and readings.
  • Maintain and adhere to required trainings, policies, and procedures.
  • Pass all PSM-required operator certifications where applicable.
  • Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives.
  • Communicate with partnership control centers, business groups, and other operating groups.
  • Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Perform lab tests for quality assurance, diagnose mechanical problems, complete minor repairs, assist other technical staff, and perform other assigned tasks.
  • Monitor field compressor status through the use of SCADA.
  • Comply with partnership safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform energy isolation lockout/tagout procedures (LOTO).
  • Maintain liquid meters, pneumatic/hydraulic composite samplers, flow computers, valves and valve operators, piston type provers, sphere type provers.
  • Perform calibrations and inspections of all instrumentation related to quality and quantity determination.
  • Maintain and operate facilities in compliance with applicable specifications, codes, safety standards and operating procedures.
  • Perform density verifications using a Pycnometer and/or Hydrometer.
  • Perform periodic accuracy tests including the calibration, inspection and maintenance of all equipment related to quality and quantity determination.
  • Witness meter performance verifications as performed by third party contractors.
  • Maintain and operate custody transfer measurement facilities including tank gauging.
  • Maintain, operate, troubleshoot and repair measurement equipment, including meters, samplers, flow computers and other peripheral measurement-related devices.
  • Install instrumentation and equipment in new and renovated measurement and/or regulation facilities.
  • Understand system gain/loss processes, ticket writing, etc.
  • Collect product quality samples for Crude or NGL liquids, in compliance with partnership safety and industry guidelines.
