About The Position

The Manager – Plant EPC and Jointly Owned Resource (JOR) Construction & Operation is primarily responsible for performing project management duties related to Plant EPC projects and JOR construction projects that support NCEMC’s growing generation needs. The position will also support both DER Fleet projects and other NCEMC projects as assigned with project management and engineering. The Manager – Plant EPC and JOR Construction & Operation will oversee projects from conception through operation supporting the entire life cycle of projects including design, contracting, permitting, financing & accounting, construction, commissioning, and transition to operations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or other related science is required.
  • At least five (5) years of industry experience with at least three (3) years of progressive project management experience with construction and finance & accounting responsibilities included.
  • Detailed working knowledge of personal computers is necessary, including software applications required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience and comfort with the use of AI in a professional environment is required – training will be provided by NCEMC.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s in business administration (or minor in business) and a professional engineer’s license are both highly desired to support the complex nature of NCEMC’s projects from business and engineering aspects.
  • Specific experience with power generation/energy projects is highly desired (combustion turbines, reciprocating engines, generators - simple and combined cycle, distribution and transmission interconnections).
  • Additionally, experience with emission management and monitoring systems on generation plants is desired (selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS)).
  • Experience with project management software skills is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NCEMC leadership, member cooperatives, internal stakeholders, and joint owners of generation resources to set the direction for projects and manage project requirements, timelines, operations, and budgets
  • Establish and manage strategic external partnerships with vendors to support the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of NCEMC’s generation fleet
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage construction contracts and support engineering design agreements and major equipment supply agreements
  • Provide technical engineering and project management support to other internal departments
  • Provide operational and engineering support to generation plant staff
  • Support NCEMC’s participation in industry groups related to power generation
  • Lead stakeholder meetings (internal/external) to engage stakeholders and share project information
  • Develop and deliver reports on workplace activities as directed by the Director – Plant EPC, DER Fleet & JOR
  • Develop presentations and white papers in support of updating NCEMC and cooperative leadership and advertising the capabilities of NCEMC’s generation fleet.
  • Assist with the annual work plan and budget preparations
  • Periodically report and present on activities
  • Maintain professional development
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director – Plant EPC, DER Fleet & JOR
