About The Position

The Manager, Patient Food Services is responsible for the direction and guidance of all aspects of patient food service and tray line at the UAMS Health Benton/Bryant location. This position works closely with all managers to ensure high standards for patients. This position coordinates planning, implementation and evaluation of menus in conjunction with other managers. The Manager, Patient Food Services, is responsible for all food handling safety and sanitation concerns along as well as making sure all equipment is being used properly and maintained in proper working order. This position is also responsible for the orientation and in-servicing of staff as well as making sure all competencies are met and that employees are current on all annual requirements; along with maintaining standards in accordance to all regulatory agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience in foodservice management, catering management, hospitality industry management, or equivalent experience including 2 years supervisory experience.
  • OR High School diploma and 8 years of experience in foodservice management, catering management, hospitality industry management, or equivalent experience including 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects patient food area for cleanliness, safety, maintenance needs, and coordinates repairs as needed.
  • Handles customer complaints by meeting and talking with special groups or other departments.
  • Monitors food preparation, service, storage and cleaning activities to ensure compliance with health, safety, and department operating standards by: sampling food, examining serving sizes, identifying and controlling food waste, inspecting kitchen and service areas, and adjusting work assignments as needed
  • Checks the quality of the food products that are served, as well as, the products that are received to ensure proper standards are met.
  • Ensures temperature logs are up to date.
  • Modifies items as needed to meet specific diet orders as prescribed by physicians.
  • Ensures that patients, families, and medical staff are satisfied with service
  • Provides leadership and directly supervises all staff within the patient food service area, including, all supervisors, dietetic technicians I and II, room service ambassadors, lead room service ambassadors, cooks, and institutional services assistants.
  • Responsible for scheduling the interviews, completing reference checks, interviewing, hiring, and terminating employees.
  • Complete all duties/tasks assigned.
