About The Position

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides direct patient care to assigned patients at the UAMS Health Benton/Bryant location. The MA works under the direct supervision of the clinic nurse(s) by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients.

Requirements

  • High School, GED or formal educational equivalent
  • Current BLS
  • Completion of Accredited Medical Assistant training program
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong work ethics and accountability
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting
  • One (1) or more years of MA experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepares treatment rooms for examination.
  • Assists with medical procedures and examinations.
  • Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and phlebotomy.
  • Performs EKG’s, dressing changes.
  • Administers approved medications.
  • Researches and scribes physicians’ orders/accession orders for clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center.
  • Performs administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
