About The Position

The Parks Manager manages, oversees, and supervises the use, care, operation, construction, general management, and budget of the Parks and related facilities for the City of Dallas. This specific role focuses on Events/Community Outreach, leading the planning, coordination, and execution of high-profile events while strengthening community engagement and public relations. The position involves overseeing event reservations, volunteer programs, community partnerships, and digital communications to enhance visitor experience and promote programs.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in administration, grounds maintenance, landscaping, athletic field maintenance, irrigation, horticulture or and/or forestry.
  • 3 plus years of managing/supervising staff, can be concurrent.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Recreation, Leisure Services, Business Administration, Agronomy, Forestry or related field.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to the operational unit or functional program and the principles and practices of public administration and management.
  • Knowledge of planning, managing events, buildings and facilities.
  • Ability to manage unit/program activities.
  • Ability to establish and obtain operating goals and objectives for unit.
  • Ability to devise solutions to administrative problems and to plan, assigns, and/or supervises the work of others.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate administrative policies and procedures.
  • Ability to disseminate information through the preparation concise reports.
  • Ability to supervise a staff.
  • Ability to administer budget.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, at all levels, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate multi-faceted logistics for events throughout the City.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all levels of management, city officials, vendors, other government agencies, other employees and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of the required experience including three (3) years of supervisory/management responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Expands and maintains community partnerships, delivers measurable results through strategic outreach, marketing, and engagement through communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
  • Develop executive-level presentations.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare comprehensive reports, and communicate effectively with leadership, stakeholders, community organizations, media partners, and the public.
  • Manage work and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
