About The Position

The Manager, Ophthalmic Clinical Services oversees the planning and implementation of all clinical functions. Moreover, this employee provides guidance and supervision to develop and maintain an environment conducive to the delivery of efficient and high-quality eye care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or above
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of business and management principles
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as the primary interface between individual technicians, physicians, fellows, and patients for daily operations.
  • Communicates and disseminates general information, and policy or procedure changes to personnel.
  • Interviews and selects new staff members.
  • Ensures that staff is trained, developed, and empowered to effectively perform their jobs.
  • Handles the formal progressive disciplinary process.
  • Conducts, monitors, and evaluates the effectiveness of employee performance improvement plans.
  • Develops strategic goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the review, revision, and implementation of standard operating procedures.
  • Serves as patients’ advocate to ensure patients’ needs and concerns are addressed.
  • Establishes protocols to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Establishes an educational program for ophthalmic technicians.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
