About The Position

FM Industries is a premier manufacturing solutions provider specializing in build to print, precision machined components, anodizing, and engineered thermal spray coatings. We provide customers leading-edge support from prototype to production. This role is responsible for managing, directing, and coordinating manufacturing and operations activities to accomplish company goals and objectives, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, and operational efficiency. The position requires interfacing with engineering, quality, customers, and suppliers to meet objectives and leveraging experience with machine best practices to resolve complex problems and lead the team to achieve department production goals consistently with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or MBA preferred with 7-10 years of operations management experience in a contemporary manufacturing environment, including applicable experience in planning and quality.
  • 10-15 years of operations management experience in a contemporary manufacturing environment, including applicable experience in planning and quality.
  • KPI Metric driven.
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
  • Proven track record in controlling costs to budget, preferably manufacturing variance management.
  • Must possess and demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and be a motivator of people.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to direct individuals and delegate responsibilities and tasks.
  • Must be computer literate and able to utilize MS Office, spreadsheets ERP systems, etc.
  • Must possess and demonstrate knowledge and experience in cGMPs and relevant Safety Regulations.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with a variety of individuals within and between departments.

Nice To Haves

  • CNC Machining experience is a plus (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • CNC Machining experience a plus.
  • Experience with operational excellence, lean, and Six Sigma or similar efficiency improvement program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and supports supervisors in the direct manufacturing of products, responsible for overall direction, coordination and evaluation of those units.
  • Organizes and directs a team approach among direct reports to maximize throughput, improve manufacturing products in a state of control and to control operating expenses.
  • Develops a responsive, flexible manufacturing operation to meet the changing demands of our customer base.
  • Establishes quality control standards throughout the entire manufacturing process by developing or revising standard operating procedures with the assistance of quality control management to ensure consistent products.
  • Reviews and coordinates production activities with product development and quality control to ensure new products are developed in a state of control.
  • Reviews and analyzes production remakes and customer complaints to determine the cause of non-conformance and correction action needed and ensures appropriate production personnel are trained in preventative actions.
  • Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded manufacturing capabilities and services.
  • Develops and/or monitors Key Performance Indicators and ensures adequate management reporting on the performance of the area.
  • Manages expenditures to achieve budgeted targets, ensuring production is run efficiently, waste is kept to a minimum and equipment is maintained to company standards.
  • Manages cost improvement initiatives to achieve ongoing operational cost optimization.
  • Interacts with other managers and subordinates on continuous improvement of processes and employee performance.
  • Accountable for quality of products, subordinates’ behavior, and performance and makes sound decisions concerning production, quality, and interpersonal relations on a multi-shift basis.
  • Implements the Company’s environmental, health and safety programs in all departments/units within your respective operations.
  • Maintains and improves FMI’s Integrated Management System.
  • Understands the requirements of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001, as applicable to your role.
  • KPI Implementation.
