About The Position

The New York Early Childhood Professional Development Institute, housed at the City University of New York (CUNY), is seeking a Manager of School-Age Programs to lead the rollout of its quality rating and improvement model for programs serving school-aged children. This is a new position within the QUALITYstarsNY (QSNY) team, responsible for defining, planning, building, and launching support for SACC-licensed programs. The role involves strategic planning, project planning, external relations, program recruitment, and implementing the testing phase of the continuous quality improvement (CQI) model. The position will evolve to support larger-scale implementation across New York State, building on existing QSNY infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Equivalent of 5+ years in a leadership role in a school-age child care program
  • Equivalent of 3+ years of experience providing coaching and technical assistance/training to staff within SACC programs that serve young children
  • Knowledge of NYS’s SACC Regulations
  • Deep familiarity with the strengths and needs of school-age programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent record-keeping and analytical skills using digital platforms
  • Highly organized and flexible
  • Strong relationship-building skills, including a sense of humor

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with central office staff and external partners to integrate SACC-licensed programs into QUALITYstarsNY.
  • Facilitate input gathering, strategic planning, and project management for launching SACC program support.
  • Coordinate with the Data and Ratings team to ensure a smooth rating process for SACC programs, considering QSNY SACC standards.
  • Plan and facilitate the testing phase of QSNY’s CQI model with school-age programs.
  • Serve on QSNY’s leadership team to shape long-term implementation plans for SACC programs.
  • Contribute to planning and decision-making regarding budget, communication, data systems, and reporting.
  • Plan and implement quality control systems for contract and grant deliverables.
  • Review data to inform and strengthen practices aligned with state and local priorities in the school-age landscape.
  • Respond to data analysis and write reports on project progress and outcomes.
  • Monitor and track budget allocations for training and resources for participating SACC programs.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of staff manuals and data systems.
  • Support the hiring and onboarding of new QSNY staff and/or training of current staff on SACC program support.
  • Create and implement a SACC program recruitment plan.
  • Engage in building relationships with key stakeholders and represent QUALITYstarsNY at events and trainings.
  • Develop partnerships with key agencies across the state to enhance the project and support for participants.
  • Maintain efficient and organized records as part of the administrative team.
  • Deliver on-site technical assistance and mentoring to SACC program leaders.
  • Provide ongoing support between site visits for materials, training registration, and advising on program goals.
  • Maintain up-to-date Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) with participants.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
