About The Position

MOD Restaurants is seeking a Manager of Payroll to plan, administer, and manage the payroll team responsible for all aspects of payroll for over 5,000 employees across 22 states. This role is a critical partner to MOD’s HR function, Finance Team, and MOD Executives. The Manager of Payroll will play a key part in adapting MOD’s systems and processes to ensure effective delivery of pay to employees nationwide.

Requirements

  • 2+ years payroll experience.
  • 1+ year management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function includes preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the 4-person department.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to the operations leaders and support center managers.
  • Understands operations as well as the functionality of the systems that provide payroll data.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Works closely with the accounting team to ensure the accuracy of payroll and employee benefit postings to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for developing department goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Oversee Time & Attendance system setup and time reporting; performing audits as needed.
