About The Position

This is a Full-Time position for a Manager of ICU/RRT at Advocate Trinity Hospital, Critical Care: ICU. The role involves planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of operations and services to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The manager will participate in short and long-term planning, establish staffing requirements, monitor patient care quality and satisfaction, and facilitate care delivery. They will also develop and implement policies and procedures, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, promote patient safety, and develop Performance Improvement projects. The position assumes 24-hour responsibility for assigned areas and divisional coverage as necessary. The manager is responsible for budget preparation and administration, ensuring adequate personnel, facilities, and supplies. This includes planning and administering annual budgets, monitoring expenditures, assuring efficient utilization of staff and supplies, identifying inventory levels, developing program proposals, completing forecasting, developing major equipment purchase proposals, and assisting with feasibility studies. Additionally, the manager is responsible for the selection, development, motivation, and evaluation of staff, including recruitment, mentoring, performance reviews, and addressing employee relations issues. They will also maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts, participate in committees, and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care delivery. The role also requires personal and professional growth and development, keeping abreast of current standards of care, maintaining professional memberships, and participating in continuing education.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree requirement (BA, BS, BSN, etc.)
  • 3-5 years of previous management experience
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in short and long term planning. Analyzes and plans for the needs of the area.
  • Establishes staffing requirements. Plans for the appropriate utilization of human resources.
  • Monitors quality of patient care and patient satisfaction; oversees implementation of measures to improve both.
  • Facilitates care delivery in conjunction with the patient focused model.
  • Supports and facilitates case management practice in conjunction with Advocate Trinity Hospital protocols.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure effective and efficient operations consistent with Trinity/Advocate Health Care philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e., federal, state, city, Accrediting Organization, IDPH, and all hospital policies and procedures.
  • Promotes patient safety by reporting of issues through established channels and participating as requested in safety initiatives.
  • Develops and incorporates Performance Improvement projects.
  • Ensures that standards of practice are developed, implemented, and evaluated in conjunction with monitoring and evaluation activities within the area.
  • Conducts special projects and studies related to area activities, goals or objectives.
  • Assumes 24 hour responsibility for assigned areas of operation.
  • Assumes responsibility for divisional coverage as necessary.
  • Plans and administers an annual budget, and monitors budgetary expenditures, reports and justifies variances on an ongoing basis.
  • Assures efficient utilization of staff, supplies maintained in the area.
  • Identifies inventory levels and costs of supplies maintained in the area.
  • Develops new and expanding program proposals with cost/budget implications.
  • Completes forecasting for upcoming and long-term budgets
  • Develops major equipment purchase proposals.
  • Assists with the development of feasibility studies.
  • Recruits, selects, mentors and motivates direct reports to achieve departmental, professional and personal goals and objectives.
  • Ensures that all staff is evaluated and performance reviews are completed in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates recruitment activities. Facilitate and promote retention strategies.
  • Assesses educational needs of the staff and facilities education opportunities.
  • Assists individuals with identifying professional goals and provides opportunities to achieve those goals.
  • Ensures an adequate orientation program for staff.
  • Implements and coordinates disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitors and facilitates the resolution of performance and/or other employee relations issues.
  • Facilitates staff meetings relating to unit, divisional, hospital and corporate activities.
  • Ensures Associate Satisfaction issues are addressed
  • Maintenance of effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Participates in Committees (Program Evaluation, Customer Service, Clinical Operations).
  • Actively participates in hospital committees and projects (PI projects, hospital projects, etc.)
  • Networks with peers to assure that administrative and clinical standards integrate with department and hospital services.
  • Networks with professionals at other health care facilities for clinical standards.
  • Coordinates activities with various other hospital departments to ensure patient satisfaction as well as cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide support for patient/family and/or significant other in adjustment to disability.
  • Demonstrate compliance with professional ethical codes of conduct and the Advocate Ethical Code of Conduct Policy and Procedure.
  • Collaborates with physicians, management and other health care professionals to assure delivery of quality care, patient satisfaction and continual use of area service.
  • Keeps abreast of current standards of care via literature, educational events, internal and external resources and internal/external networking.
  • Maintains memberships in professional and community organizations.
  • Participates in activities to enhance professional growth by involvement in professional organizations and continuing education.
  • Completes required contact hours based on FTE status within timeframe.
