About The Position

The Manager of Direct Supports provides care to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community-based settings. This role involves hiring, training, and managing Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees, as well as participating in individual-specific planning and meetings.

Requirements

  • Must adhere to Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.
  • Must adhere to rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).
  • Must abide by requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
  • Must be eligible to provide and oversee specific support services.
  • Must assist individuals with various aspects of daily living and community participation.
  • Must assist specific Medicaid recipients.
  • Must document incidents thoroughly and submit reports within 24 hours.
  • Must schedule a minimum of 35 hours per week.
  • Must inform administration of availability.
  • Must obtain permission to cancel scheduled work.
  • Must submit documentation for missed work.
  • Must actively recruit, interview, hire, discipline, suspend, terminate, train, and manage Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees.
  • Must conduct annual employee reviews.
  • Must oversee direct supports for up to 60 individuals.
  • Must formulate and update Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s).
  • Must formulate and update individual specific risk plans annually.
  • Must collect and upload/download documentation to the BDS online portal.
  • Must respond to, investigate, document, and resolve complaints.
  • Must attend individual specific quarterly meetings.
  • Must formulate, distribute, and compile data from an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction.
  • Must respond immediately to critical incidents.
  • Must actively participate in administrative tasks and meetings.
  • Must participate in audits, surveys, webinars, and inquiries.
  • Must formulate programs.
  • Must conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Must use provided technology including laptop, smartphone, email, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and BDS online portal login.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to rules and regulations set forth in Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.
  • Adhere to rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).
  • Abide by the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) as well as participate in schedule accreditation surveys.
  • Provide and oversee Residential Habilitation and Services (RHS), Day Habilitation (DHI), Respite care services (RSPO), Participant Assistance and Care (PAC), and Transportation.
  • Assist individuals with self-care, self-direction, expressive or receptive language, ambulation or mobility, Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), learning, independent living, economic self-sufficiency, physical activity, and community participation.
  • Assist Medicaid recipients meeting specific criteria set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Supports (DDRS).
  • Document incident reports for various situations including abuse, neglect, exploitation, injury, death, structural or environmental problems, fires, elopement, criminal activity by employees, medication errors, client falls, and any unusual incidents affecting client health, wellness, and functioning.
  • Ensure Incident Reports include employee and client names, date, time, description of events, individuals involved, and response to the event.
  • Submit Incident Reports via AccelTrax and to the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Supports (DDRS) online within twenty-four (24) hours of the incident.
  • Schedule work times with a minimum requirement of 35 hours per week.
  • Inform the office and administration of availability for providing supports.
  • Obtain permission from administration before canceling scheduled work times.
  • Submit supporting documentation for missed work.
  • Act as direct supervisors to Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees, including recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, suspending, terminating, training, conducting meetings, annual trainings, communication, and annual formal employee reviews.
  • Oversee the delivery of direct supports to a maximum of 60 individuals.
  • Formulate and update Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s).
  • Formulate and update individual specific risk plans at least annually.
  • Collect documentation from other care providers relevant to direct supports delivery.
  • Upload and download documentation to the Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal.
  • Respond to, investigate, document, and resolve complaints from individuals supported or their representatives, and educate individuals and their families on how to report a complaint.
  • Attend all individual specific quarterly meetings.
  • Formulate, distribute, and compile data from an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction.
  • Communicate with individuals supported or their representatives.
  • Respond immediately to individuals supported for critical incidents including abuse, neglect, exploitation, injury, death, safety threats, fires, first responder arrival, elopement, criminal activity by employees, medication errors or side effects, restraints, falls, unusual incidents, unscheduled medical appointments, behavioral incidents, threats, vehicular accidents, lack of public transportation, unscheduled employee absences, unexpected visitors, severe weather, power outages, terror threats, acts of God, or unexpected animal entry.
  • Actively participate in administrative tasks, including meetings with company leadership, consultants, community members, and journalists.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, webinars, and inquiries from various governmental and accreditation bodies (BDS, DDRS, FSSA, CMS, DDB, DOL, DWD, CARF, OSHA).
  • Formulate programs including recreational activities, outdoor activities, educational opportunities, income generation opportunities, teaching of available resources, and health promoting activities.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks, including data aggregation, individual and employee retention analysis, documentation checklists, goal tracking and outcomes, utilization reports, and any activity promoting the betterment of the company and individuals supported.
  • Receive and use a laptop computer, cellular smartphone, email account, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal login.
