About The Position

Woodfords Family Services is seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our center-based Community Supports (Expeditions) Program in Westbrook, Maine. As a DSP, you’ll play a key role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build skills, explore their community, and live independent, fulfilling lives. You’ll spend your days engaging in a variety of fun and meaningful activities—from bowling, to mini golf, to shopping, and more—while helping individuals achieve their personal goals. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, have a team-oriented approach, and a genuine desire to make a positive impact. Woodfords Family Services is a nonprofit organization that's been committed to the support and inclusion of people with special needs and their families in Maine communities for over 55 years! Today, the organization provides a wide array of clinical, educational, behavioral health, residential, community and family support programs to more than 2,000 children, youth and adults with autism, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses throughout the state. Additionally, the agency is accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), whose program of quality improvement is designed to identify providers that have met high performance standards and have made a commitment to their stakeholders to deliver the very best quality services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license & use of reliable vehicle with current auto insurance
  • Direct Support Professional (DSP) certification, or successful completion of the full DSP course within 6 months of hire (Employees are paid by Woodfords when attending DSP training)
  • Previous experience not required
