About The Position

The nature of the job as a Manager of Direct Supports is to provide care to individuals with developmental disabilities in home and community-based settings by hiring, training, and managing Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees, as well as participating in individual specific planning and meetings.

Requirements

  • Adherence to Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6.
  • Adherence to rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS).
  • Abide by requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and participate in accreditation surveys.
  • Eligible to provide and oversee specific supports (Residential Habilitation and Services, Day Habilitation, Respite care services, Participant Assistance and Care, Transportation).
  • Assist individuals with various aspects of daily living and community participation.
  • Assist specific Medicaid recipient criteria.
  • Document incidents thoroughly and submit reports within specified timelines.
  • Responsible for scheduling work times, with a minimum requirement of 35 hours per week.
  • Inform the Assisted Independence, LLC. office and administration of availability.
  • Must not cancel scheduled work time without permission.
  • Submit supporting documentation for missed work.
  • Direct supervisors to Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees.
  • Actively conduct recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, suspending, terminating, training, meetings, annual trainings, communication, and annual formal employee reviews for DSP employees.
  • Oversee the delivery of direct supports to a maximum of 60 individuals.
  • Formulate and update Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s).
  • Formulate and update individual specific risk plans at least annually.
  • Collect documentation from other care providers.
  • Upload and download documentation to the Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal.
  • Respond, investigate, document, and resolve complaints.
  • Educate individuals and their family on how to report a complaint.
  • Attend all individual specific quarterly meetings.
  • Formulate, distribute, and compile data for an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction.
  • Communicate with individuals supported or their representatives.
  • Respond immediately to critical incidents involving individuals supported.
  • Actively participate in administrative tasks of Assisted Independence, LLC.
  • Participate in meetings with company leadership and consultants.
  • Participate in audits, surveys, webinars, and inquiries from various governmental and accreditation bodies.
  • Formulate programs for various activities and opportunities.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks.
  • Receive and use a laptop computer, cellular smartphone, email account, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal login.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Indiana Administrative Code (IAC) 460-6, rules and regulations set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services (DDRS) and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS), and requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
  • Provide and oversee Residential Habilitation and Services (RHS), Day Habilitation (DHI), Respite care services (RSPO), Participant Assistance and Care (PAC), and Transportation.
  • Assist individuals with self-care, self-direction, expressive or receptive language, ambulation or mobility, Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s), learning, independent living, economic self-sufficiency, physical activity, and community participation.
  • Assist Medicaid recipients or Medicaid recipients that meet specific criteria set forth by the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Supports (DDRS).
  • Document incidents including alleged, suspected, or actual abuse, neglect, or exploitation; injury; death; structural or environmental problems threatening health and safety; fire; elopement; alleged, suspected, or actual criminal activity by an employee; medication errors; physical or mechanical restraints; client falls; and any unusual incidents affecting health, wellness, and functioning. Incident reports must include employee and client names, date, time, description of events, individuals involved, and response. Reports must be submitted via AccelTrax within twenty-four (24) hours and to the DDRS online portal.
  • Schedule work times, ensuring a minimum of 35 hours per week. Inform the office of availability and obtain permission for cancellations. Submit supporting documentation for missed work.
  • Actively conduct recruitment, interviewing, hiring, disciplining, suspending, terminating, training, meetings, annual trainings, communication, and annual formal employee reviews for Direct Support Professional (DSP) employees.
  • Oversee the delivery of direct supports to a maximum of 60 individuals, including formulation and updating of Person-Centered Individualized Support Plans (PCISP’s) and individual specific risk plans. Collect documentation from other care providers, upload/download documentation to the BDS online portal, and respond to, investigate, document, and resolve complaints. Attend individual specific quarterly meetings and distribute/compile data for an Annual Survey of Individual Satisfaction. Respond immediately to individuals supported for critical incidents such as abuse, injury, death, safety threats, fire, first responder arrival, elopement, criminal activity, medication errors, restraints, falls, unusual incidents, unscheduled medical appointments, behavioral incidents, threats, vehicular accidents, lack of public transportation, unscheduled employee absence, unexpected visitors, severe weather, power outages, terror threats, acts of God, or unexpected animal entry.
  • Actively participate in administrative tasks, including meetings with company leadership and consultants, audits, surveys, webinars, and inquiries from various governmental and accreditation bodies. Formulate programs for recreational activities, outdoor activities, educational opportunities, income generation, resource teaching, and health promoting activities. Conduct quality assurance checks, including data aggregation, retention analysis, documentation checklists, goal tracking, utilization reports, and any activity promoting the betterment of the company and individuals supported.
  • Receive and use a laptop computer, cellular smartphone, email account, AccelTrax/Provide Management Software, and Bureau of Disability Services (BDS) online portal login. Additional items may be granted by the President.
